New News!

Update time!   Gemini has given us new greatness to gaze upon!   I’m just going to copy his comments on the pictures, since there’s nothing that I can say that he hasn’t already.

  1. The name entry screen in its total bad ass glory! That took me quite a while to hack, but now it’s finally working. Notice the nice fixed width font effect I added to the vwf. I love it, and I hope you like it, too. ^_^ Oh, I’ve also added a small description below the table chart, only to fill part of the remaining space and to actually explain how to input your name. I’m surprised Namco didn’t think about that, but maybe it was just a layout issue.
  2. Don’t get fooled by this other screen, it’s not something old. If you look carefully you can notice that the elemental icons finally make some sense. I did my best trying to redraw those orbs (void, water, holy, lightning), even though a few have been ripped and edited from some commercial games (fire is from ff6, darkness and earth are for Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin). Oh well, they shouldn’t be too bad and clear enough, but in case you are clueless I’ll add a legend to the readme, so there shouldn’t be any problem.

On my side of things, I’m estimating that I’m about half-way done with the Present translation.  I’ve also done parts of the Past and Future since some of them take place in the same geographical areas.  The Menu has been done for a while now, and I’ve checked most of them for errors as well, so things are going along very smoothly.  Look forward to more coming soon!

  1. Now there are 7 spaces for name! 🙂
In original version was impossible to write Chester(I had put CHESTE… >.<) 😛
I don’t like change the original names, but a lot people like it, will it be possible add others letters(exemple: á, â, ã, í, ó, ú, ç…)? It will help to write foreign names ^^
These elemental icons are excellent 🙂

    Good job! ^^

  2. Sorry, but there won’t be any additional accents. Our font is already full of symbols and I can’t add anymore. I guess you’ll have to stick with non-accented names or just the default. Oh well, not a big program after all. ^_^

  3. No problem, I prefer default names. ^^
    Thanks. 🙂

  6. Wow your translation is going great!
I think you’ll do a great work making this patch 🙂
I read your translation of the script and was very nice.
If you have plans to make patchs in different
languages, I can translate the script in Spanish.
    (That’s my primary language :P)
    Well good Luck!

  7. Yes, I do intend to release the patch in other languages, but this doesn’t mean they will be derived from Through’s English scripts. If you can provide a direct Japanese->Spanish translator it’s fine, otherwise no deal, sorry.

  8. I agree with the sentiment. While I do want to get ToP in the hands of as many people as possible, I really dislike Japanese -> English -> Any Other Language translation. It’s just not accurate and it’s not a good way of doing things. Translating is very much an interpretive process, and having a script of interpretation built on a previous interpretation isn’t a good idea. It puts you too far out from the original source material.

  9. Well in that case I can’t help you, my knowledge of Japanese is near 1% xD, but Oh well, I hope some people with Japanese skills can help to translate the script in different Languages.

    Good Luck
