Sorry for the utter silence on the blog lately. For those of you who don’t follow along with the comments, it must have seemed quite quiet around here. I had a bunch of real life obligations that none of you particularly care to hear about (and that I’m bound by contract not to talk about), so I’ll just leave it at that and say that I have been quite busy lately. A fair amount of my free time has gone into de-stressing via games. That being said, progress is, as always, being made on the translation and hacking fronts.
First up, we have a dialogue shot. Hacking work on dialogue is obviously not an issue at this point and the translation is progressing. Second, another menu shot, which is currently my main focus. Implementing the selector is still a work in progress (since I have to cross reference past games with the Japanese names). I’ve ended up creating a huge spreadsheet that is documenting naming conventions all across the Tales series, but it is taking me longer than I expected. The good news is that the time I put into creating this database now will pay dividends on future projects. That’s currently low priority, however. Kingcom is doing a great job of making everything look fantastic. The cooking window had to be completely restructured in order to make that screenshot.
I previously mentioned that I would be making the announcement for my second project in early August. Obviously that didn’t happen, although the announcement IS still coming. I now expect that the project will be revealed in early September. I apologize for those of you who are waiting to hear what it is, but hang in there just a little longer.
Finally, I just want to say something in regard to a release schedule for Tales of Innocence:
Tales of Innocence will be released when it is complete and no sooner. The release date of the project will be well publicized when we are ready, but that is still months away.
We have started to see comments about how people are “starting to lose interest”. I’m somewhat stunned that there is already such impatience towards the project. It hasn’t even been a month since we announced the project. Anyone who has ever been involved in a translation project could tell you that these things do not happen overnight and there’s no way to rush it. We will continue to work at our own pace and aim to bring you the best translation that we can. We ask for your understanding and support until that time. Thanks. ^_^
